' I would like to discuss my attitude and work in relation to 'taking structure to be the essence of all experience' under three headings:

1. The conceptual/intuitive

2. The physical/objective

3. The perceptual/psychological

'It is not suggested that at the creative level there is a particular causal order between these three levels, nor is there a hierarchical ranking in importance. Rather, I would propose, an interpenetration between beyond the parts - a dynamic, evolving totality. ... One of the purest types of conceptual thinking, pure mathematics, is one with the symboloby that expresses it. ... It is the attempt to realize in physical terms the conceptual structure that creates the structure of the artefact... Perception is thought of as a structuring activity in its own right. In a very real sense one 'sees' what one is looking for.'
